Our goal is to bring every employee and contractor home healthy and safe every day.
To achieve the kind of zero harm workplace to which we aspire, we work to establish a culture and an environment where incident-free work is business as usual, no matter what a person’s role or where in the world they are working.
We do this through a combination of safety standards, safe work practices and procedures, incident reporting and tracking, knowledge sharing across our operations, safety audits and Operational Excellence, our behaviour-based management approach.
Operational Excellence is the practice of engaging our workforce in identifying hazards, assessing risk and managing it to as low as reasonably achievable (also known as ALARA) on the job. By engaging our workers, we empower them to find ways to do jobs more safely and instill a sense of personal responsibility for safety. We believe this is the most practical and effective way to make our work sites safe.
Across the company, we manage safety and health through our risk-based SECA Standards. Managers at our operations are responsible for implementing these standards, and it is their responsibility to ensure work practices and procedures that support the standards are in place.
