Association of the Finnish Extractive Resources Industry

Founded in 1999, this association aims to improve working conditions in the Finnish mining industry by organizing research projects and increasing awareness of environmental and safety issues.

Business and Biodiversity Offsets Program (BBOP)

The Business and Biodiversity Offsets Program is a partnership between companies, governments and conservation experts to explore biodiversity offsets. Advisory Group members include more than fifty private and public companies, lending and other financial institutions, representatives of government and civil society. Their goal is to develop and test global best practices for biodiversity offsets and conservation-oriented banking.

Canadian Turkish Business Council

Devonshire Initiative

Inmet is a charter member and Working Group member of the Devonshire Initiative (DI). The Devonshire Initiative was launched by the Munk Centre for International Studies at the University of Toronto in March 2007. It grew out of the multistakeholder national Corporate Social Responsibility Roundtables convened by the Canadian government to address corporate social responsibility by the Canadian extractive industry in developing countries. An ongoing dialogue between industry members and nongovernmental organizations to reach an understanding and move towards productive solutions for issues of mutual concern in developing countries. Inmet is a founding member of the Devonshire Initiative and serves on its Steering Committee.

Fund for Peace (Human Rights and Business Roundtable)

Fund for Peace is an independent, nonpartisan research and educational organization that works to prevent war and alleviate the conditions that cause conflict. The roundtable is a forum for multinational businesses and mainstream human rights organizations to discuss issues of common concern in an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust and confidentiality. Inmet has been a member of the roundtable since 2009.

Global Compact

In 2008, Inmet joined the United Nations Global Compact , a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. As part of our commitment to this initiative, we analyzed our performance and communicated our progress in these areas over the past three years.

Global Reporting Initiative

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is an independent organization that seeks to make reporting on economic, environmental and social performance as routine and comparable as financial reporting. GRI, through a network of staff and volunteer-based working groups of experts from around the world, has developed the GRI reporting framework.

We use the GRI reporting framework as the basis for reporting most of our quantitative data on sustainability and for measuring our performance.

Inmet Mining Corporation self-declares that its 2010 sustainability report fulfills the requirements for a level B+ in accordance with the criteria set by the Global Reporting Initiative under the G3 framework. The Technical Protocols, Indicator Protocols and the Mining Sector Supplement (G2) guided the development of this report. Although the 2010 sustainability report has been externally verified, GRI has not verified the contents of this report, nor does it take a position on the reliability of information reported in our annual sustainability report.

Mining Association of Canada

We’re an active member of the Mining Association of Canada (MAC), a national industry organization that seeks to promote the growth and development of Canada's mining and mineral-processing industry, for the benefit of all Canadians.

The association promotes the interests of the industry nationally and internationally, working with governments on policies affecting minerals and with provincial and other industry groups in Canada and other countries.

Mining Safety Roundtable

In 2010, Inmet joined the Mining Safety Roundtable which focuses on eliminating fatalities and major incidents through benchmarking, sharing best practices, and fostering a safety culture.

Towards Sustainable Mining

Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) is an initiative of MAC and its member companies to improve the reputation of the Canadian mining industry through improved operational performance, particularly in the social and environmental aspects of our business.

Inmet plays a leadership role in the TSM initiative by:
• measuring and reporting results for our domestic and international operations and our closed properties
• promoting TSM with our peers and the investment community.

We’ve been using TSM to measure performance at our operations for six years. We also measure our performance using all six TSM indicators.

MAC requires member companies to have a third party verify their self-assessments every three years. Our results were last verified in 2008.

You can learn more about TSM performance in the Mining Assocation of Canada's Progress Report 2011 - Towards Sustainable Mining.

Transparency International Canada Business Roundtable

Transparency International Canada Inc is an organization that promotes anti-corruption practices and transparency in Canada’s governments, businesses and society at large. Inmet is one of four business roundtable members. Inmet joined the roundtable in 2010.
